Featherstone Vaults Archive.
Objects that have been sold are not deleted. Their entries stay here permanently, so that a future owner, a researcher or an insurer can find what was recorded about an object at the time it changed hands.
Why it is kept
An object's documentation is worth more when it is continuous. A dealer who removes sold stock removes a link in that chain. Keeping the entries costs us nothing and preserves something that is genuinely difficult to reconstruct later: what was known, claimed and disclosed at the point of sale.
Archive entries retain their catalogue number. Prices achieved are not published.
