Consignment.
Consignment suits an owner who wants an object properly catalogued and placed with the right buyer, and who is not in a hurry. You keep ownership until it sells.
How it runs

Assessment
We examine the object, research what can be established about it, and give you a written view of what it is and what we expect it to achieve. If consignment is not the right route, we say so.

Terms
Commission, reserve, duration and the basis on which the object is held are agreed in writing before anything moves. There are no separate charges for cataloguing, photography or research.

Cataloguing
The object is catalogued to the same standard as our own stock: classification, condition report, measurements, documentary position and photography. You approve the entry before it is published.

Offering
The object is offered through the catalogue, to the Private Access list, and directly to collectors we believe are the right buyers for it.

Settlement
You are paid on cleared funds, within the period set out in the agreement. You retain ownership until then and can withdraw the object on notice.
While we hold it
Consigned objects are held in secure, environmentally stable storage and are insured for the agreed value from the moment they arrive. They are not lent, displayed publicly, or subjected to any treatment without your written agreement.
Where conservation would materially improve the result, we will tell you what we recommend, what it costs and what it would change. The decision is yours, and we are equally content to offer an object exactly as it came to us.
