Make an enquiry.

Every enquiry is read and answered by a person. If you are writing about a specific object, quote its catalogue number and we will reply with the dossier.

Enquiries that get the most useful reply tend to say three things: what you are looking at or looking for, what you already know about it, and what you are trying to decide. If you are weighing an object against another one elsewhere, say so. We would rather tell you the other one is better than sell you ours.

For an object in the catalogue, quote its catalogue number and we will send the dossier: the full entry, the condition report, measurements, photography and copies of the supporting documents we hold. There is no obligation attached to asking for one, and we will send it before any discussion of price if that is what you want.

For something we do not have, the more specific the brief the more useful the search. A period, a type, a condition threshold, a documentary standard and a ceiling give us something to work with. That route is set out underprivate acquisitions.

If you are selling rather than buying, sell an objectis the right form, and consignment terms are set out in full. Questions about how we assess an object before offering it are answered underprovenance and authenticity.

Enquiries are answered personally, usually within one working day.
