Catalogue entry

Overview

An extraordinary natural mineral formation distinguished by its intricate branching structures and finely sparkling crystalline surface.

Rising from a naturally hollowed matrix, densely clustered mineral projections create an almost otherworldly landscape, reminiscent of ancient coral formations or the interior of a subterranean cavern.

The specimen displays subtle shades of muted violet, earthy grey and greenish-brown, with thousands of minute crystals catching the light across its sculptural surface.

Originating from the Artigas region of Uruguay, an area internationally recognised for its remarkable mineral deposits.

The underlying formations have been tentatively described as calcite or chalcedony, with a fine microcrystalline coating. The precise mineralogical composition has not been independently verified.

Selected for its unusual natural architecture and distinctive visual character.
